I've been in the mood for mindless knitting recently... easy work that I can enjoy in the evenings, or just knit a row or two when I have the time...
These socks have made a little progress...
My major project love at the moment though has been this shawl...
I'm using the simple shawl recipe from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's Knitting Rules, and just increasing the width of the rows of brown as I go along...
I don't really have an intended size in mind... just until I run out of yarn. I'm hoping it will be quite large and cosy - something to keep me warm in the snow :-)
(Okay, so we haven't actually had any snow yet... but a girl can hope, right?)
(Also, can I just say how hard it is to photograph a shawl in progress??)

What's your word?
I am now officially on the other side of January assessments, and so I should be able to get back to blogging and knitting! Yay!! :-)
How is your 2015 going so far? I can't believe that it is mid-way through January already! This month seems to have passed by in a bit of a blur - I blame being stuck under a pile of books and papers for the past few weeks...
Ah well, I am embracing the rest of January as my New Year, and with this comes New Year's resolutions right? I have decided to follow in the footsteps of Susannah and Leigh and to choose a word for 2015 - something I can keep in mind as I go about everyday life. I have seen so many good ones around the internet, but the one I've decided to go with is WELLBEING.
This year I am going to endeavor to do things which make me happy, and push me to be the very best version of myself :-)
Above you can see that I've started to try and follow this already. My timetable-in-progress - because nothing makes me happier than Washi Tape and coloured pens! I was inspired by this, this, this and this... it is so much more motivating to see tasks layed out in a pretty way :-)
If you could choose a word to focus on this year, what would it be?

Friday Link Love
I promise there will be some yarny content soon, but with January assessments, I haven't seemed to find the time to take pictures yet.
In the meantime, here are a few links for you to love!
Knitting has finally appeared in a commercial in a cool way! YAY!
Or how about this: yarnbombed bus, anyone?
These made me laugh...
I liked the advice in this article for artists (or anyone who creates things)...
Productivity tips (meant for students, but I thought it was good advice for anyone!)
And finally - this clock. Is it bad that I could stare at it all day just for the pretty colours?
Have a great weekend!!

Happy 2015!
Happy New Year!
Did you have a good holiday season? Mine was busy, full of visits with family and lots of yummy food!
In amongst all the hustle and bustle I have managed to get quite a lot of knitting done! Although I have been a bit silly and forgotten to take some photos - I can let you know that the dragon was very much appreciated by my sister though!
One thing I did managed to snap a few pictures of was the plethora of Christmas decorations I seemed to knit over the course of the holidays.
There were first Christmas hearts...
Sticking with the heart theme, there was also this colourwork heart bauble (Inspired by these ones...)
And of course I couldn't just make one... (there was another one as well, but this was gifted before I had a chance to take a picture...)
Once I started the colourwork, I couldn't stop! These stockings by Little Cotton Rabbits were fun to make - one was knit flat, and then I challenged myself to knit the other in the round. The one knit in the round was a bit more difficult, but I love the result, and I will admit to doing a happy dance when it turned out right!
I'm hoping these will make me smile year upon year as they get put on the tree. :-)
